Engaged

All those rumors are true. I am getting married Aug 28th in the Draper Temple. We are having our reception Aug 29th. I got my ring July 9th in Corolla Light, North Carolina. We went to go and take engagement photos and Scott asked me if I wanted to wear the ring in the photos and I said sure bring it along. Well I started to give it back to him at the end of our photo shoot and he said just keep it on your finger and he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was nice to have my brother there to capture the moment. I look forward to spending eternity with the love of my life.

My Birthday

So I so wish I had a picture to post today. Because this post is not about me but it is about my Grandmother. Every year on my birthday I always got a call from my Grandmother Nellie J. Pratt. She would alway recount the circumstances surrounding my birth. So I will recount some of them for each of you. My Mother had a still born several years before she gave birth to me. I can't recall the exact problem that my mom was suffering from with her prior pregnancies, but she started to suffer the same things while she was pregnant with me. My blessed Mother was put on bedrest and she had to be flown to Palo Alto to visit a Dr at a high risk pregnancy clinic. My mom constantly reminds me that she had to stay in bed for six weeks. Well while my mom was on bed rest for six weeks, my sweet grandmother had three busy little boys, ages 6,4 and 3. Anyways my mother had a priesthood blessing and was healed. I was born July 1, 1975. I can't believe that time has flown by. I have lived such a full and wonderful life. I have had such stellar examples and loved ones put into my life. Every year I always reflect around this time of year. I miss my grandmothers call on my birthday and the things that I have done in the past years that I have not been able to share with her. I just hope that in the coming years I will have a guardian angle looking over me.

A great trip to Washington D.C.

This last trip to the East Coast was so pleasant. It was a short trip to the East but well worth it in the end. I met Scott at the airport and it was nice to see him after a long absence. We woke up early Thursday morning to go downtown Washington D.C. to go to the National Mall. We toured some of the Smithsonian museums and it was nice to see the newly remodeled Natural History Museum. We hurried home to have dinner with my family. It was so fun to hang out with my family. The next morning we all headed to the National Zoo. It was fun just Scott and I and Six others, including my Aunt, Mom, Cousins, and her Children. It was fun and really hot and humid at the Zoo. ( And trust me hot and humid and the Zoo sometimes don't fair well togehter if you catch my drift) Anyways it was a tad bit smelly. Well we hurried home to go to my cousin's rehearsal dinner out at the farm. It was nice to reunite with some old family and friends. The next morning we went to the temple sealing where my Uncle performed the sealing. Later that evening we went to the reception and had dinner and danced the night away. It was a fun night. The bride and groom took off and as they drove away their were fireworks being shot up in the air. Anyways Sunday we wrapped things up by going to church and we came home to a homecooked meal. I think overall it was a nice trip.

Baking and a Graduation Party!

I love to bake. It is really calming and soothing to my soul. I can ponder about the finer things of this world. I love to think of the pioneer women when I cook, and how easy I have it and how they struggled and suffered so much. I have enjoyed this past month to think alot about my ancestors and how they made fresh bread and grew things in their gardens to give away to others. I love to do the same. This month I have loved visiting with family and baking for them. I don't have much in this life to give so therefore, I love to give of my goodies and treats to those whom I love.

I wish that I could serve all of my friends a bit of goodness through a goodie. I think that no one could ever say no to a baked good, that is truly baked with love. I cherish the moments that I have seen my own parents serve others. This is a characteristic that I have inherited from my parents. They are always cooking and helping others. My parents have been in town this week and whenever I am in their home they are always cooking and serving me. It was a pleasant change to see the tables turned this week. I have enjoyed cooking and visiting with them. It was also fun to cook for my brothers graduation party. It is so nice the older I get the more I look to my mother and father for guidance and direction. I realized as I worked side by side with my mother I find out more about my ancestors and the trials that so easily beset them. I have really enjoyed cooking, working and visiting with my family and friends this month. I hope to have many more memories made in my kitchen or visiting you in yours.

Spring in Orem.

I really do love this time of year. And I really do love this spring weather. Well I got a little bee in my bonet and decided to make some Easter treats since the Easter Bunny did not visit my house. The first dessert is Miniature Butterfinger Cheesecakes, the second was a chocolate cake with almond frosting with Almond bark grated on top. Honestly I love them both too bad I only got a bite cuz everybody knows that Swim suit season is right around the corner. Anyways it was fun to do a little cooking in the Kitchen.

Yet another trip to sin city.

Well, for some reason I thought it did not take that long to drive to Vegas. I was wrong five hours is quite a long time when you have no one to converse with except yourself. I did appreciate all the time that I had to think things through. I do enjoy the meditation that I did.

I saw Scott, and we mostly just went to his soccer games and hung out. Anyways I hung out with his nieces and nephews while he was working. The Jolly's and the Elsmore's were very kind to take time to hang out with me. Anyways Scott drove me back last night and we went to the early morning session of Conference this morning. I was nice to hear conference live. Anyways that is all that is going on.

I have always wanted to be a party planner....

So after throwing this shower you would think that I would be exhuasted, however for some unknown reason I have insomnia super bad tonight, maybe its because I am excited to go and see Scott tomorrow. Anyways it was a great shower and I believe everyone had a good time, even Thompson who now has discovered olives.

The home team advantage.

As some of you faithful bloggers know, I have traveled down to Vegas for the last Six months. It was nice to have Scott on the home field for once.

Saturday:
We started our weekend out to a trip to the Sushi Bar and to Red Box. The next morning I made Scott breakfast it was decadent. We made waffles with sauteed Apples with brown Sugar.
Later that afternoon we went to meet up with some of Scott's friends at the Harley Davidson Cafe to indulge in some sliders. And boy were they yummy! We hung around for awhile at home and did some shopping. Scott installed a wireless router so that I could use my laptop upstairs. It was super nice of him. That evening we met up with some of my friends and we ate some pizza and ventured out to the Wilkenson Center to bowl and play the arcades. I think everyone was wiped out at the end of the evening.
Sunday:
We went to Church and came home to begin dinner. It was fun to cook together. I had my brothers and nieghbor over for Sunday dinner. It was nice to have just a relaxing day.
Monday:
We ventured out to the airport at 5:30am and man I was tired. Overall it was nice to have Scott here. It was funny my brother asked what Scott thought of being the center of attention of my Blog. I just laughed and so did Scott. Anyways it was nice to have another visit.
